Welcome to Pod! We first opened our shop in the charming village of Elora in 2002. Ten years later, we moved to the vibrant, artistic community of Guelph, just 20 minutes south. We love downtown Guelph, especially Market Square with it's specialty boutiques and fine dining. We love our space! Beautiful high tin ceiling, creaky wood floors and exposed stone walls - all a perfect backdrop for our carefully curated collections of ever-evolving contemporary, well-designed and thoughtful fashion, jewelry, footwear and accessories.
Imagine our delight to discover Canadian industrial designer, Amanda Nogier, in NYC displaying her clever concrete/terrazzo jewelry. We love how Amanda plays with perspective in her work while the colours remind us of the full moon and her galaxy. Coming soon...
Back by popular request!! Lotta clogs have been beautifully hand-crafted in Sweden for over 100 years, using vegetable-tanned leather and alder wood for the base. Stylish, comfortable and sustainable! Oh you clog you...
Who doesn't love a bandana? So versatile, so adaptable, so adorable! These bandanas are extra special because each one is cut, sewn, hand-dyed and screen printed in Jenni Earle's studio. The prints are Jenni's own hand-drawn designs and each comes with it's own story.
“Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening. - Coco Chanel
At Pod, our emphasis is to introduce customers to the benefits of organic fashion choices which are both ethically produced and sustainable. We are always thrilled to support artisans who are creating something useful and beautiful from up-cycled materials. We believe, as consumers, we have the power to support change through the products we buy, the clothes we wear, the food we eat, and the independent, small businesses we support. Ask our knowledgeable staff about the benefits of organic cotton, bamboo, Modal, Lycocell, Tencel, hemp and recycled poly.
There is comfort in finding brands of clothing that have been tried and tested. With so many choices out there, it can be a challenge. Many of our brands have been with us season after season because we are so impressed with their quality, new and exciting designs and comfort. Here is a partial list of the brands we support: LOLE, Fig, White Stuff, Nice Things, Toad, Mansted, Uchuu, Erdaine... plus every season we introduce new and upcoming Canadian designers.
Lynn is the owner of Pod, a career she cherishes as the best job ever! Way back, she had a real job working in the steel industry and making jewelry on the side. Then a move to Vancouver where a small piece of jewelry turned into a clever little night light and Pod was born! For the next 10 years, Lynn's lighting designs were featured in many magazines and sold throughout North America. Next chapter, she moved back to Ontario and opened Pod in Elora where the shop quickly blossomed into the pretty little fashion and gift boutique. Life is sweet!
Allison is our Pod shop manager and the welcoming personality our customers see when they visit. Not only does she do an amazing job managing the day to day responsibilities, she is also a vital part of the buying team which is a great opportunity for this Guelphite to see the world. And to sample beer - yes Allison is quite the craft beer connoisseur - ask her about her favourite sours. In her spare time, Allison is working toward developing her own brand of clothing and perhaps having a shop of her own someday, fingers crossed!
Anita is our fitness guru at Pod! She is attempting to whip us into shape with her fitness and healthy eating advice. And we are really hoping she will be successful! You too can benefit from Anita's experience. She offers private training sessions on her days off. That's when she's not relaxing at home with her dog Rubi or experimenting with her other passion, photography.
Kate is the newest member of our Pod team. Kate grew up in Bayfield ON, living above her mother's retail shop. We like to think she had a toy in one hand and a steamer in the other, helping out at the shop from a young age! Kate has travelled extensively and studied photography and art abroad. Her latest passion is weaving and she was the lucky recipient of a donated, heritage wooden loom. We look forward to seeing what Kate creates!!
Pumpkin is our shop greeter, a job he takes very seriously. And he would be in the shop more often except he now has a younger brother at home, and you know, he has to teach Stu everything!! Aside from these responsibilities, Pumpkin also loves to go sailing in Bayfield, bike rides to the flea market, and chasing sticks at the beach. It's a dog's world after all!
I always feel so inspired and happy after I’ve left the company of these special young women at Pod. Service is exceptional, warm and welcoming, always helpful and knowledgeable about all their beautiful products. Although the compliments I have received about my Pod pieces ‘vintage and new’ are wonderful, I realized years ago that it’s the actual visits with Lynn, her dedicated lovelies and of course the handsome little “Pumpkin”… that are just fun and refreshing, an absolute joy! Thanks for being so passionate about what you do and most especially dedicated to all who walk through your shop door.
